Spotify Enhances AI DJ with Voice-Controlled Music Requests and Mood Changes

Spotify is enhancing its AI DJ feature to offer a more interactive and personalized music experience for its premium subscribers. Previously, users could only listen to the AI DJ play songs with occasional commentary. Now, Spotify is introducing voice command capabilities that allow users to request specific music, change the mood of playlists, or switch genres.

This interactive update is currently supported only in English and is being rolled out to premium users in over 60 markets worldwide. Users can access the AI DJ by searching for it in the Spotify search bar and holding the DJ button located at the bottom right of the app to issue voice commands.

If users prefer not to make a specific request, they can simply press the DJ button to quickly change the feel or mood of the playlist. This feature builds on Spotify’s initial AI DJ launch in February 2023 in the U.S. and Canada, which was expanded globally in August 2023. Spotify also introduced a Spanish-speaking AI DJ last year, reflecting its commitment to multilingual AI experiences.

This advancement highlights the growing trend of integrating AI-powered voice interactivity in music streaming, enhancing user engagement by allowing more natural and intuitive control over content.
