Whoop Launches Advanced 5.0 and Medical-Grade MG Wearables with New Health Features
Whoop introduces two new devices: the Whoop 5.0 with extended battery life, multi-location wearability, and advanced health tracking, and the medical-grade Whoop MG featuring FDA-cleared ECG heart screening and blood pressure insights. Alongside new membership tiers, these innovations provide users with deeper health, fitness, and longevity insights, empowering personalized wellness management.
Whoop, renowned for its leading sleep tracking technology, has launched two innovative wearable devices: the Whoop 5.0 and the Whoop MG (Medical Grade). These new models come with enhanced hardware capabilities, expanded health features, and updated membership tiers designed to deepen user insights into fitness, recovery, and longevity.
Whoop 5.0: Enhanced Battery Life and Versatile Wearability
The Whoop 5.0 offers a significant upgrade in battery performance, delivering over 14 days of use on a single charge. Users can extend this to a full month with an optional wireless powerpack. The device is 7% smaller than its predecessor yet achieves 10 times greater power efficiency. A key innovation is its ability to be worn on multiple body locations, not just the wrist, enabling continuous 24/7 tracking tailored to user comfort.
Updated sensors capture data 26 times per second, enhancing the accuracy of health metrics and fitness tracking. The device supports over 145 activities, providing detailed insights such as VO₂ Max and muscular strength during training sessions.
Advanced Health Features for Longevity and Hormonal Insights
Whoop’s new Healthspan feature evaluates users’ biological age versus chronological age using nine health metrics, offering actionable recommendations to optimize longevity. Additionally, Hormonal Insights help users understand how menstrual cycles and hormonal changes impact sleep, recovery, and overall well-being, providing personalized guidance without replacing medical advice.
Whoop MG: Medical-Grade Heart and Blood Pressure Monitoring
The Whoop MG device includes an FDA-cleared Heart Screener with electrocardiogram (ECG) capabilities, enabling users to detect early signs of atrial fibrillation and irregular heart rhythms. This data can be shared directly with healthcare providers for informed medical decisions. The device is designed for users over 22 years old and is not suitable for those with certain implanted cardiac devices.
Currently in beta, Blood Pressure Insights offer daily estimates of systolic and diastolic ranges, helping users understand how blood pressure fluctuations affect their health and wellness.
Whoop Advanced Labs and Personalized Biomarker Analysis
Whoop Advanced Labs enables users to schedule blood tests at home or nearby locations, integrating results into the Whoop app for personalized health analysis. This service tracks biomarkers such as cholesterol and glucose, correlating them with lifestyle changes to guide health improvements. It is an optional paid service not currently covered by insurance, with plans to support HSA/FSA eligibility.
New Membership Tiers Tailored to User Needs
Whoop introduces three membership tiers: One, Peak, and Life. Each tier offers different levels of access to devices and features, ranging from fitness performance tracking to advanced health and heart monitoring. Pricing starts at $199 per year for Whoop One with the 5.0 device, up to $359 per year for Whoop Life including the MG device.
Existing members can upgrade to the Whoop 5.0 with a one-time fee and no extension of their current membership term, with options to trade in older devices for credit. These advancements position Whoop as a leader in wearable health technology, offering comprehensive tools for fitness, recovery, and medical-grade monitoring.
