Brilliant Launches NextGen Smart Home Control Panels with Enhanced Performance
Brilliant has launched its second-generation smart home control panels, featuring a 4x higher resolution screen, dual-band WiFi, and a more powerful processor. These upgrades aim to reduce latency and prepare for future AI-powered smart home features. The company, recently acquired by private equity, offers bundles and a plug-in version for easier installation.
Brilliant, a leading smart home controller manufacturer, has introduced its second-generation touchscreen panels designed to replace traditional light switches. This new iteration builds on the original model’s design but significantly upgrades the hardware capabilities.
Key enhancements include a screen with four times the resolution of the previous generation and dual-band WiFi support (2.4GHz and 5GHz), which helps reduce wireless interference and improve connectivity reliability.
The upgraded processor is positioned to support the upcoming wave of AI-powered smart home functionalities, although specific features and release timelines have not yet been disclosed by Brilliant.
According to Erin Wright, Brilliant’s head of marketing, the new panels also reduce latency with smart device integrations, addressing previous performance issues experienced with some connected devices.
Brilliant panels are compatible with popular smart home devices such as Philips Hue lighting and Sonos speakers, enabling centralized control through a sleek touchscreen interface.
The company faced financial challenges in 2024 but was acquired by private equity firms Almeida Strategic Investments and Cullinan Holdings, which facilitated the development and launch of this next-generation product.
Brilliant’s new panels are currently available for purchase, with bundle options that include screenless switches for expanded smart home control. For users seeking an easier installation, a plug-in version with smart outlets is also offered.
The Broader Significance of NextGen Smart Home Panels
The introduction of more powerful smart home control panels reflects the growing demand for seamless, integrated home automation experiences. By enhancing hardware capabilities and preparing for AI-driven features, Brilliant is positioning itself at the forefront of smart home innovation.
For developers and businesses in the IoT ecosystem, these advancements underscore the importance of robust processing power and reliable connectivity to support increasingly complex smart home environments.
As AI integration becomes more prevalent, control panels like Brilliant’s will serve as critical hubs for managing diverse devices, enhancing user convenience, energy efficiency, and home security.
Brilliant’s journey from near closure to a revitalized product launch also highlights the resilience and innovation possible within the smart home market, especially when supported by strategic investment.
