Waymo Brings Robotaxis to Dallas Next Year
Waymo is rolling out its robotaxi service in Dallas through an Avis partnership, with public rides slated for next year. The move marks the company’s sixth U.S. market after Phoenix, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Atlanta, and Austin. Waymo continues to grow its fleet, forge new partnerships, and refine its sixth-generation self-driving tech for safer, scalable autonomous mobility.
Waymo, Alphabet’s autonomous vehicle arm, has announced plans to launch its fully driverless robotaxi service in Dallas next year. This expansion comes via a strategic partnership with Avis Budget Group, which will handle fleet maintenance and operations. Early testing is already underway, and public rides will be available through the Waymo One app.
Rapid U.S. Rollout
Since launching in Phoenix in 2020, Waymo has opened fully autonomous service in multiple U.S. cities. Riders can summon electric Jaguar I-Pace vehicles via Waymo One or, in some markets, through Uber.

Strategic Partnerships and Fleet Growth
Waymo’s collaboration with Avis in Dallas highlights the trend of automakers and fleet managers joining forces. Earlier deals include pilot projects with Toyota and a large-scale manufacturing facility near Phoenix. By 2025, Waymo aims to add 2,000 more Jaguars and integrate sixth-generation self-driving systems into all-electric Zeekr and Hyundai Ioniq 5 models.
Safety and Performance Milestones
After 71 million autonomous miles across its U.S. network, Waymo reports 88% fewer serious-injury crashes and significant reductions in pedestrian and cyclist incidents versus human drivers. Software updates following minor collisions have reinforced system reliability.
Looking Ahead
As Waymo prepares for launches in Washington D.C., Miami, and overseas in Tokyo, industry stakeholders can leverage data-driven insights to navigate regulatory pathways and optimize deployment. Public acceptance grows as riders and municipalities witness tangible benefits from a robust autonomous ecosystem.
