Waffle House, the iconic 24/7 diner chain known for its Southern hospitality and highway-adjacent locations, is set to become a significant player in the electric vehicle (EV) charging landscape starting in 2026. In partnership with BP Pulse, a leading EV charging network operator, Waffle House will install 400kW DC fast chargers at select locations across the Southern and Southeastern United States.

The chargers will support both CCS and NACS connector standards, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of electric vehicles. Each participating Waffle House diner will feature six BP Pulse charging bays, providing ultrafast charging capabilities that significantly reduce vehicle downtime for drivers.

With over 2,000 locations in 25 states, many situated near highway exits, Waffle House offers an ideal network for EV drivers seeking convenient charging options during long-distance travel. This initiative aligns with BP Pulse’s broader strategy to expand its ultrafast charging network, which already spans more than 8,000 retail locations in 46 states.

BP Pulse CEO Sujay Sharma emphasized the significance of this collaboration, highlighting how integrating charging infrastructure with well-known, accessible amenities enhances the EV driver experience and supports the transition to electric mobility.

Strategic Benefits of Waffle House EV Charging Integration

  • Convenient Location: Proximity to highways makes charging stops efficient for travelers.
  • 24/7 Access: Waffle House’s round-the-clock service complements the need for flexible charging times.
  • Enhanced EV Adoption: Combining fast charging with familiar dining experiences encourages more drivers to switch to electric vehicles.
  • Third-Party Collaboration: This partnership exemplifies how cross-industry cooperation can accelerate EV infrastructure deployment.

The integration of ultrafast EV chargers at Waffle House locations represents a forward-thinking approach to infrastructure development. It not only addresses the practical needs of EV drivers but also leverages the cultural significance and accessibility of a beloved American diner chain. This initiative is poised to make a meaningful impact on the EV ecosystem, particularly in the Southern United States, where long-distance travel and highway connectivity are critical.

As electric vehicles become increasingly mainstream, partnerships like this one between Waffle House and BP Pulse demonstrate the importance of integrating charging infrastructure into everyday life. By situating chargers at familiar, convenient locations, the barriers to EV adoption are lowered, supporting a cleaner, more sustainable transportation future.
