Truecaller, the popular caller ID application, has recently crossed the milestone of 450 million users worldwide. This achievement comes after the company added 50 million users in the last ten months, with 15.5 million new users joining since the start of 2025. India remains Truecaller's largest market, which has led to the promotion of Rishit Jhunjhunwala, previously the Chief Product Officer and Managing Director of India operations, to the position of CEO. This change in leadership follows the decision of the company's co-founders to step back from daily operations.

While India continues to be a critical market for Truecaller, the company is experiencing significant growth in other regions as well. In a recent blog post, Jhunjhunwala highlighted the fast-paced growth in Latin America, South Africa, Kenya, Nigeria, Malaysia, and the United States. Despite this global expansion, Truecaller faces potential challenges in India, where the telecom department is encouraging mobile carriers to develop their own caller ID systems, which could compete with Truecaller's offerings.

In the fourth quarter of 2024, Truecaller maintained an active user base of nearly 430 million and reported a 23% increase in net sales and a 29% rise in profit after tax compared to the previous year. The company's stock has surged by over 33% since the beginning of the year. Truecaller has also updated its app to enhance compatibility with iOS, overcoming previous limitations imposed by Apple's operating system.

To diversify its offerings, Truecaller has introduced features such as call recording, transcription, and an AI-powered assistant for call screening. Additionally, the company is working on improving its SMS and chat client. These innovations position Truecaller as a leader in the caller ID space, providing users with a comprehensive suite of communication tools.
