Tebi Innovates Hospitality Management with All-in-One Platform
Tebi, a fintech startup launched by Adyen cofounder Arnout Schuijff, provides hospitality businesses with an all-in-one subscription platform that integrates payments, reservations, inventory, and more. Backed by €56 million in funding, Tebi aims to simplify operations for SMBs with enterprise-grade features and plans to expand across Europe and the U.S.
Arnout Schuijff, cofounder of Dutch payments giant Adyen, stepped down in 2021 to pursue a new venture focused on small and medium-sized hospitality businesses. His startup, Tebi, based in Amsterdam with 35 employees, offers an all-in-one subscription platform that streamlines payments, reservations, inventory management, and more for restaurants, bars, and similar venues.
Unlike Adyen’s enterprise focus, Tebi targets the SMB segment by integrating multiple operational tools into a single platform with enterprise-level functionalities and pricing. This approach addresses a crowded market of point-of-sale systems, reservation platforms, and inventory analytics by unifying these services to reduce manual reconciliation and operational friction.
Schuijff’s motivation to found Tebi stemmed from his passion for coding and a desire to help local businesses navigate complex tax and reporting requirements, especially highlighted during the COVID-19 lockdowns. Leveraging modern streaming technology, Tebi supports instant transaction updates, preparing hospitality businesses for evolving tax regulations demanding real-time sales reporting.
The founding team combines deep technical expertise and commercial leadership, including former Adyen EVP Technology Rob Vonk as CTO and executives from Notion and Wolt. This balance enables Tebi to focus on both product innovation and market expansion effectively.
After a hyperlocal launch in the Netherlands, where merchants now process nine-figure payments annually on the platform, Tebi is scaling rapidly. With open positions in Amsterdam and London and plans to double its workforce, the startup is preparing to enter the UK market and expand across Europe, supported by €56 million in total funding.
The latest €30 million funding round led by CapitalG, Alphabet’s growth fund, not only fuels geographic expansion but also enables Tebi to enhance its platform with AI-driven features. These include automated onboarding processes that extract menus, branding, and reservation settings, and future AI tools designed to optimize business operations.
Tebi’s vision is to evolve beyond a multi-functional platform into an AI-powered assistant that helps hospitality businesses run more efficiently and profitably. This ambition reflects a broader trend of embedding software-driven payments and operational intelligence into SMB-focused solutions, a market historically underserved by traditional banks and payment providers.
Schuijff’s journey from Adyen to Tebi illustrates how entrepreneurial passion combined with technical innovation can address real-world SMB challenges. By focusing on hospitality—a sector ripe for digital transformation—Tebi is positioned to become a key player in Europe’s fintech and software development landscape, with sights set on the U.S. market once European foothold is secured.
