Spotify Introduces Snooze Feature to Temporarily Hide Songs from Recommendations
Spotify is testing a new Snooze button that allows Premium users to temporarily remove songs from their recommendations for 30 days. This feature helps listeners take a break from overplayed tracks without permanently hiding them. Alongside this, Spotify improved playlist management, queue design, and added options like creating playlists from liked songs and listening to track previews on desktop.
Spotify is rolling out an innovative feature called the “Snooze” button, currently in testing with Premium subscribers. This feature allows users to temporarily remove a song from their recommendations for 30 days, providing a break from tracks they might be tired of hearing without permanently hiding them.
The Snooze option appears when a user hides a track from their playlists. Unlike the previous Hide function, which only affected the device it was used on, the updated Hide button now removes the track from playlists across all devices, ensuring a consistent listening experience.
Spotify has also revamped its queue interface for Premium users, integrating features such as shuffle, smart shuffle, repeat, and a sleep timer. Additionally, after queued tracks finish, users can see Spotify’s recommended songs, enhancing music discovery.
To improve playlist management on mobile devices, Spotify added Add, Sort, and Edit buttons at the top of playlists. Users in select countries can now convert their liked songs into playlists and use a new Create button to build playlists, join shared ones, listen with friends, and access AI-generated playlists.
