Samsung has unveiled its latest rugged tablet, the Galaxy Tab Active5 Pro, designed for challenging environments where devices are exposed to dirt, water, and physical impacts. This new tablet introduces a dual hot-swap battery feature, allowing users to replace the battery without shutting down the device completely. This innovation ensures continuous operation, provided that fully charged batteries are available. The tablet is powered by a Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 processor, with options for 6GB or 8GB of RAM and storage capacities of 128GB or 256GB. It features a 10.1-inch 120Hz LCD touchscreen with enhanced sensitivity, making it usable with gloves, and runs on Android 15.

The Galaxy Tab Active5 Pro also boasts a robust IP68 rating for dust and water resistance, capable of withstanding submersion in water up to 1.5 meters deep for 30 minutes. It includes a 12-megapixel rear camera and an eight-megapixel front-facing camera, enhancing its utility in various field conditions. The tablet's design continues to support USB-C power sources, a feature carried over from its predecessor, allowing it to operate in warm environments where battery overheating is a concern.

Alongside the tablet, Samsung has announced the Galaxy XCover7 Pro smartphone, which shares the same processor and RAM specifications. The smartphone features a 6.6-inch 120Hz LCD touchscreen with increased touch sensitivity and a Vision Booster mode for better outdoor visibility. It includes an upgraded stereo speaker system with anti-feedback technology, a larger 4,350mAh battery, and an IP68 rating, making it suitable for environments like hospitals where sanitization is crucial.

These devices are set to launch in mid-2025, with the smartphone available from May 8th and the tablet following in June. Pricing details have yet to be announced. Samsung's advancements in rugged technology demonstrate a commitment to providing durable and reliable solutions for industries requiring robust mobile devices.
