Samsung Launches One UI 8 Beta for Galaxy S25 with Android 16 Features
Samsung has released the One UI 8 beta based on Android 16 for Galaxy S25, Plus, and Ultra users in select countries. The update introduces AI improvements, enhanced multitasking with a new split-screen feature, and accessibility support like Auracast. It also refreshes Quick Share and Reminder apps, setting the stage for the upcoming foldable phone launch this summer.
Samsung has officially launched the beta version of One UI 8, its customized interface built on Android 16, now available for Galaxy S25, S25 Plus, and S25 Ultra users in the US, UK, Germany, and South Korea. Interestingly, the S25 Edge is excluded from this beta rollout.
The update highlights Samsung’s focus on AI enhancements, promising improved multimodal capabilities and a more personalized user experience. However, the official changelog offers limited specifics beyond faster AI Select activation, which now eliminates previous delays.
One UI 8 is also optimized for diverse device form factors, including tablets and foldables, echoing Google’s Android 16 improvements. A notable new feature is the split-screen option that allows users to slide one app partially offscreen to the edge, enabling focused multitasking reminiscent of tools seen on devices like the OnePlus Open.
Additional enhancements include a redesigned Reminder app layout for easier task organization and sharing, a simplified Quick Share interface, and support for Auracast—an accessibility feature that lets hearing aids and compatible earbuds, such as Galaxy Buds 3, connect swiftly to shared audio streams like public announcements or concert audio.
Users can access the One UI 8 beta through the Samsung Members app. Samsung plans to officially launch One UI 8 this summer alongside its next-generation foldable smartphones, likely the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7.
This release marks what Samsung calls a “new rhythm” in its software evolution, promising major user experience and AI updates. For developers and tech enthusiasts, this signals an exciting opportunity to engage with cutting-edge multitasking and AI features tailored for foldable and diverse device formats.
