Roborock has transformed the concept of robot vacuums from simple cleaning devices into sophisticated AI-powered housekeepers. Their latest model, the Saros Z70, introduces the first robotic arm on a mass-produced robovac, setting a new standard in home automation and cleaning technology.

The Saros Z70 features the OmniGrip, a foldable five-axis robotic arm capable of picking up objects weighing less than 300 grams, such as socks, sandals, and tissues. This arm works alongside dual cameras and AI-powered navigation to identify and move obstacles, allowing the vacuum to clean more thoroughly and efficiently.

Safety is paramount in the Z70’s design. It includes anti-pinch sensors, upward-facing sensors to detect objects or people above the vacuum, and an emergency stop button. Users can also manually control the robotic arm through Roborock’s app, adding a layer of interactive convenience.

Beyond the robotic arm, the Z70 leverages advanced AI technologies such as the StarSight Autonomous System 2.0, dual-light 3D Time of Flight sensors, and an AI-powered RGB camera. These components enable the vacuum to build detailed 3D maps of your home, detect over 100 common household items, and navigate with precision.

Roborock’s VertiBeam Lateral Obstacle Avoidance system uses vertical and forward-pointing lasers to measure distances and heights, preventing collisions and entanglements with cords or furniture. The vacuum’s ultra-thin 8 cm profile and adaptable chassis allow it to clean under low furniture and traverse uneven surfaces effortlessly.

Additional features include a multifunctional charging dock that powers the vacuum in just 2.5 hours, a powerful 22,000Pa suction system with quiet mode adjustments, and a dual anti-tangle brush system that efficiently manages hair and debris. The mopping system intelligently scrubs tough spots and detaches to protect carpets.

The Saros Z70 is now available in the United States, representing a leap forward in AI-powered home cleaning technology. By combining robotic manipulation, advanced perception, and adaptive learning, Roborock is redefining what a robot vacuum can do—transforming it into a versatile, intelligent housekeeper that actively manages clutter and cleans with precision.

Broader Significance and Opportunities

The Saros Z70 exemplifies how AI and robotics are converging to create smarter, more autonomous home devices. This evolution opens new opportunities for developers and businesses to innovate in smart home automation, integrating AI-driven perception and manipulation capabilities. It also highlights the importance of continuous learning systems that adapt to user environments and preferences over time.

For technology leaders and product developers, the Z70’s approach demonstrates how combining hardware innovation with AI software updates can extend device functionality post-purchase, enhancing user experience and product lifespan. This model can inspire new applications in elder care, hospitality, and facility management where autonomous, adaptive robotics provide tangible benefits.
