Omeda Studios Launches Competitive Summer Circuit for Predecessor MOBA
Omeda Studios is ramping up esports action for its free-to-play third-person MOBA, Predecessor, with a full summer competitive calendar. After consolidating servers in Dallas to reduce ping and improve gameplay, the studio is launching the Predecessor Championship Circuit across North America and Europe. With millions of players and strong community engagement, this marks a major step in establishing Predecessor as a premier esports title.
Omeda Studios is setting the stage for a thrilling summer of esports with its free-to-play third-person action MOBA, Predecessor. Following the success of their recent Summer Showdown Creator Tournament, which captured strong community and esports attention, the studio has announced a full competitive calendar for 2025. This move signals a commitment to growing Predecessor’s presence in the competitive gaming scene.
One of the key technical improvements behind this momentum is Omeda’s decision to consolidate all game servers in Dallas, Texas. CEO Robbie Singh explained that Dallas offers some of the best internet infrastructure in the country, which helped reduce ping disparities between players on the East and West Coasts. Previously, West Coast players experienced ping times around 100 milliseconds, while East Coast players had about 80 milliseconds. Now, both coasts enjoy a much-improved 40 milliseconds ping, creating fairer and more enjoyable matches.
This server consolidation was made possible using Hathora’s technology, which supports scalable and efficient game hosting. The improvements have been validated by months of data collection, confirming that centralized servers deliver a better experience for all players, especially the most competitive ones who are sensitive to latency.
The story behind Predecessor itself is compelling. Originally developed by Epic Games under the name Paragon, the game was shut down in 2018. However, Epic Games open sourced the project, allowing Robbie Singh, a passionate fan, to acquire and revive it through Omeda Studios in 2021. After four years of development and raising $22 million—including grants from Epic—the game officially launched in August 2024 on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms. It now boasts two million players and a growing team of 87 developers.
Building on this foundation, Omeda Studios is launching the Predecessor Championship Circuit (PCC) for summer 2025, designed to spotlight emerging talent and deepen community engagement. The circuit includes sign-ups starting May 31, followed by a Creator Cup, regional preliminaries in North America and Europe, and culminating in summer finals in July.
Key Dates:
- PCC 2025 Summer Sign-Ups: May 31
- PCC Creator Cup: June 14–15
- PCC NA 2025 Summer Preliminaries: June 21–22
- PCC EU 2025 Summer Preliminaries: June 28–29
- PCC NA & EU 2025 Summer Finals: July 12–13
Singh emphasized the significance of this next chapter: “Building on the incredible energy from last month’s creator tournament, we’re thrilled to announce a monumental leap forward for Predecessor esports with the launch of our official Predecessor Championship Circuit in both Europe and North America. This is a massive step, showcasing our commitment to fostering competitive play and directly supporting our incredible community.”
To further empower players, the upcoming 1.6 game update will introduce the Victorious skin line, with all proceeds contributing to the tournament prize pool. This initiative not only incentivizes competition but also strengthens the community’s investment in the game’s esports future.
Predecessor’s fast-paced, strategic gameplay combines unique characters and abilities with stunning third-person visuals, appealing to both MOBA newcomers and veterans. Available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC via Steam and Epic Games, it has quickly built a dedicated player base eager to compete and engage.
For fans and competitors alike, the Predecessor Championship Circuit promises an exciting season of esports action, streamed live on the official Predecessor Twitch channel. Mark your calendars and get ready to witness the rise of new champions in this revitalized MOBA landscape.
