Mozilla Ends Pocket and Fakespot to Focus on Smarter Browsing

Mozilla is officially shutting down Pocket, the beloved read-it-later app that has helped millions save articles, videos, and recipes since its launch in 2007. This service will cease operation on July 8th, 2025, marking the end of an era for users who relied on Pocket to organize their digital reading lists.

Users will still be able to export their saved Pocket content until October 8th, 2025, after which all user data will be permanently deleted. Mozilla is also canceling subscriptions automatically and issuing prorated refunds for annual plans starting from the shutdown date.

Alongside Pocket, Mozilla is also sunsetting Fakespot, its AI-powered fake review detector acquired in 2023. Despite its potential to help users navigate unreliable product reviews, Fakespot didn’t fit Mozilla’s sustainable business model and will be discontinued by June 10th, 2025.
