The tool automatically dubs creators' voices into other languages while preserving the original sound and tone, and it includes an optional lip-sync mode to align speech with mouth movements.

At launch the feature supports translations between English and Spanish bidirectionally. Creators on Facebook with at least 1,000 followers and all public Instagram accounts (where Meta AI is offered) can toggle the option in the reel composer by selecting “Translate your voice with Meta AI,” choosing lip-sync if desired, and previewing results before publishing.

Creators can preview AI translations and lip-sync before the reel goes live, and can turn either option off without affecting the original clip. Viewers see a notice that the audio was translated with Meta AI, and they can disable translated reels for specific languages in settings.

Facebook creators also have a parallel option: uploading up to 20 of their own dubbed audio tracks via Meta Business Suite under “Closed captions and translations.” That method supports adding translations both before and after publishing, unlike the real-time AI dubbing which is generated at share time.

Meta recommends creators face the camera, speak clearly, avoid covering their mouth, and minimize background noise. The AI supports up to two speakers and requires non-overlapping speech for reliable translation. Creators gain a new Insights metric showing views by language to track how translations expand reach.
