Lime and Uber Renew Partnership for Expanded Micromobility Access
Lime has renewed its multiyear partnership with Uber, allowing Uber to continue featuring Lime’s bikes and scooters in its app across multiple countries. This deal supports Lime’s growth with over 1 million daily rides and expansion into new markets like Barcelona and Mexico. Uber integrates Lime into its Uber One subscription, promoting sustainable, affordable transportation.
Lime, a leading shared scooter and bike company, has renewed its multiyear partnership with Uber to continue featuring its micromobility vehicles within Uber’s ridehail app. This collaboration spans multiple regions including the US, Canada, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand, enabling seamless access to Lime’s bikes and scooters where both companies operate.
This renewed agreement comes ahead of the busy summer season, a critical period for micromobility usage. Lime CEO Wayne Ting emphasized that the partnership allows riders to quickly discover and book Lime vehicles through one of the world’s largest transportation platforms, expanding access to affordable, emissions-free travel options.
Uber also recently integrated Lime into its Uber One subscription, offering members 10% cash back on Lime rides. This incentivizes sustainable transportation choices and strengthens the value proposition for Uber’s customer base.
The partnership dates back to 2018 when Uber invested in Lime and integrated its vehicles into the Uber app for the first time. During the pandemic, Uber’s $170 million investment helped Lime acquire Uber’s Jump bike and scooter business, solidifying Uber’s 29% stake in Lime and positioning Lime as a dominant player in the micromobility market.
Lime’s recent financial results highlight sustained growth with over 30% annual growth for four consecutive years, positive free cash flow, and $810 million in gross bookings. The company is expanding into new markets like Barcelona and Mexico and scaling new vehicle models such as the LimeBike and pedal-less LimeGlider, aiming for a global fleet exceeding 15,000 vehicles in 2025.
Lime recently set new records with over 1 million rides in a single day and more than 10 billion minutes of rider usage since its 2017 launch. This momentum underscores the growing demand for shared micromobility as a convenient, eco-friendly urban transit option.
This renewed partnership also positions Uber closer to its goal of becoming a zero-emission platform by 2040. Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi highlighted Lime’s role in making transportation easier, more affordable, and sustainable, offering riders more options to get around without owning a car.
As competitors like Lyft adjust their bikeshare pricing and explore strategic shifts, Lime and Uber’s collaboration exemplifies how integrated mobility platforms can scale shared transportation solutions effectively.
