Killer Inn Multiplayer Game Blends Murder Mystery with Intense Action
Killer Inn, developed by Tactic Studios and Square Enix, redefines multiplayer murder mystery games by combining deduction with intense combat. Up to 24 players navigate a castle-turned-hotel, hunting secret killers or escaping with keys. Unique mechanics replace voting with direct action, creating a thrilling blend of strategy and chaos.
Killer Inn is a fresh take on multiplayer murder mystery games, developed by Tactic Studios in partnership with Square Enix. Unlike traditional social deduction games that rely heavily on discussion and voting, Killer Inn amps up the intensity by mixing deduction with direct combat, giving players knives, guns, and other weapons to survive or eliminate threats.
In each match, 24 players enter a sprawling castle-turned-hotel, divided into cooperative 'lambs' and secret killers known as 'wolves.' Players complete tasks to earn tokens, which can be exchanged for weapons or items. When a body is discovered, clues left on the corpse help the lambs deduce who the killers are. But unlike games like Among Us, there’s no group discussion or voting phase.
Instead, players must act on their suspicions immediately by attacking suspected killers. If a player mistakenly kills an innocent teammate, they are turned to stone and removed from active play for the remainder of the match. This mechanic injects a high-stakes layer of tension and urgency, forcing players to balance caution with aggression.
Lambs also have an alternative path to victory: collecting four keys to escape on the ship that brought them to the island. The game features additional mechanics such as safe rooms staffed by hotel employees who can identify killers if they commit murders within sight, adding strategic depth to player movement and interaction.
Players can select from 25 unique characters, each with distinct appearances and abilities that evolve during matches. For example, Winston, a surgeon, becomes more lethal with knives and gains bonus damage when covered in blood, while the Otaku increases health and resistance through clue discovery. However, all players reset to level one at the start of each match, ensuring a level playing field.
Though Killer Inn does not yet have a release date, a closed beta test is planned soon on Steam. This game’s innovative blend of deduction and action could reshape how multiplayer murder mysteries are played, appealing to fans of both strategic thinking and fast-paced combat.
