At the Summer Game Fest, IO Interactive unveiled two highly anticipated titles: 007: First Light and MindsEye. These announcements were accompanied by exciting news about integrations with their acclaimed Hitman: World of Assassination series, signaling a bold expansion of their gaming universe.

The 007: First Light game dives into James Bond’s early days, starting with the tragic loss of his parents and his recruitment into a spy agency. Players will experience Bond’s rigorous training and violent missions before he becomes the iconic MI6 asset. The game promises classic Bond humor and action-adventure thrills reminiscent of Tomb Raider and Indiana Jones.

Notably, the game features partnerships with prestigious brands like Aston Martin, Coca-Cola, GeForce RTX, and Jaguar, enhancing authenticity and immersion. Scheduled for a 2026 release, gameplay previews are expected this summer, building anticipation among fans.

MindsEye, developed by Build A Rocket Boy led by Leslie Benzies, introduces players to Jacob Diaz, a hero navigating a sprawling cityscape with a versatile drone companion. Combat is highly dynamic, allowing players to scan environments, hack doors, and disrupt enemies. The game blends tactical gameplay with cinematic storytelling, offering multiple approaches to objectives.

The developers showcased intense sequences including drone battles, ground combat against military robots, and high-speed racing on an airfield with jets taking off. This variety highlights the game’s expansive design and player freedom. MindsEye is available for preorder, signaling confidence in its upcoming success.

IO Interactive also revealed that Hitman will expand to PSVR 2, offering immersive virtual reality experiences, and will be adapted into a tabletop game via a Kickstarter campaign. Additionally, a playable version for the upcoming Switch 2 console was announced, broadening accessibility for fans.

The integration of iconic characters is another highlight: players can pursue LeChiffre, the villain from Casino Royale, as an elusive target in Hitman, while Agent 47 will appear in MindsEye. This crossover enriches the narrative depth and connects the games in a shared universe.

Behind the scenes, IO Interactive’s Glacier engine powers these games, boasting 25 years of evolution. Its scalability from mobile to consoles and PC enables rapid development cycles and high-quality experiences across platforms, a critical advantage in today’s competitive gaming market.

Voice acting adds emotional depth, with Mads Mikkelsen reprising his role as LeChiffre and David Bateson lending his voice to Agent 47. Bateson describes Agent 47 as a complex figure, a “Frankenstein’s Monster” searching for humanity, which adds layers to the character’s portrayal in the games.

With these announcements, IO Interactive is not just expanding its portfolio but also pushing the boundaries of interactive storytelling and cross-platform innovation. Fans and developers alike can look forward to immersive, interconnected experiences that blend narrative, technology, and gameplay in fresh ways.
