Gravitee, a leading platform for managing APIs and digital traffic pipelines, recently secured $60 million in a Series C funding round. This investment, led by Sixth Street Growth with participation from Riverside Acceleration Capital and Albion VC, brings Gravitee’s total funding to over $125 million. The company plans to use these funds to develop new product features and expand into new markets, addressing the growing complexity of modern data systems.

Modern enterprises face challenges integrating diverse data systems, including APIs that facilitate communication between applications. Gravitee’s CEO, Rory Blundell, emphasizes the risks companies encounter without a unified control plane to manage these disparate systems. As organizations rapidly adopt AI agents, streaming data, and hybrid infrastructures, they must address security, observability, and control risks within their API and event infrastructures.

Founded in 2015 by Rory Blundell and a team of developers, Gravitee evolved from an open-source project into a thriving business offering both free software and paid services. The platform supports deployment on-premises, self-hosted environments, or via a software-as-a-service model. Key features include API design tools, mock testing capabilities, and dashboards for visualizing API deployments.

Gravitee distinguishes itself by supporting both synchronous APIs, which return data immediately, and asynchronous APIs, which return data later. This dual support addresses a gap left by some competitors. Gravitee currently serves hundreds of customers, including notable companies like Blue Yonder, Michelin, Roche, and Tide, achieving $22 million in annual recurring revenue in fiscal year 2024.

With a workforce of approximately 130 employees and plans to grow to around 200 by year-end, Gravitee is poised for significant expansion. Its competitive landscape includes companies like Blobr, which focuses on API monetization, and StepZen, which develops graph technology for API connectivity and visualization.
