Govee's IFA showcase brings programmable curtains and rugged outdoor lighting

At IFA in Berlin, Govee arrived with a bold lineup of smart lighting aimed at consumers and installers who want more than simple color-changing bulbs. The star is the Curtain Lights Pro: a programmable curtain made of 960 individually addressable LEDs that can render detailed shapes, scenes and animations via the Govee app and its lighting AI helper.

A single curtain covers about 5.4 by 5.7 feet and you can chain up to three to span 16.2 by 5.77 feet, opening creative options from wall art and entryway accents to window treatments and themed event backdrops. Govee added practical touches like waterproofing and bottom mounting clips to reduce tangles.

  • Curtain Lights Pro — 960 LEDs, AI scene builder, chainable coverage
  • Permanent Outdoor Lights Prism — IP68, triple-color effects, -30°F to 140°F, 50,000-hour life, replaceable bulbs
  • TV Backlight 3 Pro — HDR triple-camera ambient matching for real-time bias lighting
  • Table Lamp Pro (2nd gen), smart pendant light, and Nebula Star Light projector for immersive ceilings

Beyond the wow factor, these products reflect clearer positioning: durable, install-friendly outdoor gear for permanent installations, and feature-rich indoor systems for home theater and experiential retail. The Prism outdoor lights are designed for year-round use under eaves, with strong weather tolerance and the option to default to warm white for safety or visibility.

Practical deployments come to mind immediately: retailers wanting dynamic window displays, hospitality venues seeking seasonal façades without rehangs, and homeowners upgrading living rooms into ambient theaters. The Curtain Lights Pro also opens possibilities for content creators and event planners who need flexible, programmable backdrops.

Installation and integration considerations will determine success: power routing, dimming compatibility, mounting hardware for long-term use, and the reliability of app-based automation. Camera-linked features such as the HDR backlight improve immersion but raise questions about local processing, latency and privacy practices.

For businesses and integrators, measurable metrics matter: installation time, maintenance intervals, energy use and customer engagement. Outdoor permanent lights reduce seasonal labor and can be modeled for payback timelines, while advanced indoor systems can increase dwell time and perceived value in hospitality settings.

QuarkyByte’s approach would be to benchmark these products in pilots that measure durability, control integration and user experience, and then scale successful patterns across sites. That means lab-style reliability checks, field pilots in representative locations, and automation design that ties into existing building or smart-home platforms.

Expect availability in the coming weeks with pricing still to be announced. We'll be testing these new Govee items at home and in real installations to report how they hold up when they leave the showroom and enter everyday use.
