Figma Launches AI-Powered Tools to Rival Adobe WordPress and Canva

Figma is expanding its platform with four new AI-powered tools—Draw, Buzz, Make, and Sites—aimed at enabling product designers to complete entire projects without third-party apps. These tools cover website building, AI coding, marketing content creation, and vector illustration, positioning Figma as a comprehensive design ecosystem competing directly with Adobe, WordPress, and Canva.

Figma has unveiled a major update introducing four AI-powered products—Draw, Buzz, Make, and Sites—designed to transform it into an all-in-one product design platform. This expansion aims to eliminate the need for designers and developers to switch between multiple third-party applications during the product creation process.

Previously, while Figma’s core products like Figma Design, Slides, and FigJam supported ideation and prototyping, users had to rely on external tools such as WordPress for live websites or Adobe Illustrator for scalable brand imagery. The new suite addresses these gaps by integrating website building, AI-assisted coding, marketing content creation, and vector illustration directly within the Figma ecosystem.

Figma Sites: Simplifying Website Creation

Figma Sites is a new website builder integrated with Figma Design that enables creators to convert their projects into live, functional websites. It offers presets for layouts, blocks, templates, and interactions, reducing complexity and development time. Users can enhance sites with custom animations generated either through existing code or AI-driven text prompts, such as animating text to fall like a feather.

Currently in beta for full-seat Figma users, Figma Sites plans to introduce AI code generation and a content management system later this year, further streamlining website management within the platform.

Figma Make: AI-Powered Coding Assistance

Figma Make leverages Anthropic’s Claude 3.7 AI model to provide prompt-to-code functionality, similar to Google Gemini Code Assist and GitHub Copilot. It can generate working prototypes and applications based on textual descriptions or existing designs, allowing users to create interactive elements like a spinning music disc. Users can refine specific design elements through additional AI prompts or manual adjustments.

Currently in beta, Figma is exploring integrations with third-party tools and design systems to expand Make’s capabilities across its platform.

Figma Buzz: Streamlined Marketing Content Creation

Figma Buzz targets marketing teams by enabling the creation of brand-approved templates and assets that can be quickly assembled into emails, social media posts, and advertisements. It includes generative AI tools for image creation and editing via text prompts and supports bulk asset generation from spreadsheet data, paralleling features found in Canva and Adobe Express.

Figma Draw: Vector Illustration Within Figma

Figma Draw is a vector design app integrated into Figma Design that offers brushes, texture effects, and vector editing tools for creating scalable visuals and logos. Available now for full-seat users, it provides a streamlined alternative to Adobe Illustrator, allowing creatives to produce detailed vector art without leaving the Figma platform.

While not as extensive as Adobe’s Creative Cloud, Figma Draw marks a direct competition with Adobe following Adobe’s discontinuation of its XD design platform and its failed $20 billion acquisition attempt of Figma. This update signals a significant shift in the creative software landscape, offering new integrated options for designers and developers.

Figma’s expansion into AI-driven coding, marketing, website building, and vector illustration reflects a broader industry trend toward unified, intelligent design platforms. By consolidating these capabilities, Figma empowers teams to accelerate workflows, reduce tool fragmentation, and enhance creative collaboration from concept to launch.
