Eight Sleep Launches Pod 5 with Smart Blanket and Surround Sound Speakers

Eight Sleep has unveiled the Pod 5, the latest iteration of its premium smart sleep system, integrating advanced features designed to enhance sleep quality through technology. This new generation builds upon the company's established temperature-controlled mattress cover and adjustable base, adding a temperature-regulated blanket and surround-sound speakers.

The temperature-controlled blanket complements the mattress cover by providing water-powered heating and cooling from 55 to 110 degrees Fahrenheit, with the ability to set different temperatures on each side of the bed. This feature aims to eliminate temperature conflicts between partners, enhancing comfort throughout the night.

A standout addition is the integration of surround-sound speakers into the adjustable base. Developed in collaboration with neuroscientist Andrew Huberman, the system offers Non-Sleep Deep Rest (NSDR) guided meditations and a variety of calming soundscapes. Users can customize audio settings to either fade out after falling asleep or play continuously, promoting relaxation and restorative sleep.

The Pod 5 also enhances health monitoring with the new Health Check feature in the Eight Sleep app. Utilizing AI-powered algorithms, it tracks heart rate and breathing patterns during sleep, providing users with detailed reports and flagging potential health concerns each morning.

Despite its innovative features, the Pod 5 comes with a premium price tag. The base Core model starts at $2,849, the addition of the temperature-controlled blanket raises the price to $4,099, and the full setup including the adjustable base with speakers costs $6,099. Additionally, a mandatory subscription service begins at $199 per year, covering software and health insights.
