Dyson Unveils Ultra Slim PencilVac with Advanced Cleaning Features
Dyson introduces the PencilVac, the world’s slimmest vacuum cleaner at just 38mm thick and under four pounds. Featuring four unique Fluffycone brushes that prevent hair tangles, green LED floor illumination, and a powerful 140,000RPM motor, it’s designed for efficient hard floor cleaning. Launching in Japan this year, it arrives in the US in 2026.
Dyson has launched the PencilVac, claiming it as the world’s slimmest vacuum cleaner, measuring just 38mm in diameter—the same thickness as its Supersonic hair dryer. Weighing less than four pounds, this ultra-lightweight vacuum integrates its motor, battery, and electronics into a sleek handle, redefining portability and convenience in home cleaning devices.
Designed as a successor to the Dyson Omni-glide, the PencilVac introduces four spinning conical brushes called Fluffycones. These brushes are engineered to prevent hair tangles by allowing long hairs to slide off the narrow ends, improving cleaning efficiency. The Fluffycones also extend slightly beyond the vacuum’s edges to enhance cleaning along baseboards and corners.
Unlike Dyson’s other vacuums that use laser dust detection, the PencilVac features green LED lights that illuminate dust and debris on hard floors, helping users see areas that need attention. Its cleaning head is optimized for hard surfaces and is not designed for carpet use, focusing on efficient floor maintenance in modern homes.
At the heart of the PencilVac is Dyson’s smallest and fastest vacuum motor, just 28mm in diameter, spinning at 140,000 RPM to deliver 55AW of suction power. This motor powers a two-stage dust filtration system designed to prevent clogging and maintain consistent performance as the dust bin fills. The dust bin itself uses a new compression design to maximize capacity despite its smaller size.
The vacuum includes a magnetic charging dock that also stores accessories and can charge an additional battery, extending cleaning time beyond the standard 30-minute runtime at low power. A small LCD screen on the device displays cleaning mode and battery life, while connectivity to the MyDyson mobile app offers maintenance alerts and customizable settings, marking Dyson’s first vacuum with smart app integration.
While the PencilVac’s slim design brings portability and ease of use, it sacrifices some versatility compared to larger Dyson models. It cannot convert into a handheld vacuum and is primarily intended for hard floor cleaning. However, it supports alternate attachments like furniture and crevice tools, enhancing its utility for detailed cleaning tasks.
Dyson plans to launch the PencilVac in Japan later this year, with availability in the United States expected in 2026. Pricing details have not yet been announced. This innovative vacuum exemplifies Dyson’s commitment to combining powerful cleaning performance with sleek, user-friendly design and smart technology integration.
