Celestial Guardians Expansion Revitalizes Pokemon TCG Pocket with New Cards and Meta Shifts

The Pokemon TCG Pocket is set to receive its largest expansion since launch with the Celestial Guardians set, arriving on April 30. This massive update includes over 200 new cards, introducing players to exotic Alolan Pokemon such as Litten, Rowlet, Popplio, and legendary creatures Solgaleo and Lunala. The set also highlights regional variants of classic Pokemon, including Alolan forms of Meowth, Persian, Vulpix, and Ninetales, with full art versions of Alolan Raichu and Marowak available.

Uniquely, Celestial Guardians splits into Solgaleo and Lunala packs, each containing themed cards. For the first time, different versions of the same Pokemon card appear in each sub-set, including variants of Litten, Rowlet, Popplio, and Oricorio. This innovation encourages players to collect both packs for a complete experience, increasing engagement and collection depth.

Immersive cards, a popular feature in Pokemon TCG Pocket, return with a twist. Unlike previous expansions that focused on iconic Pokemon, Celestial Guardians introduces the first immersive Supporter card featuring Lillie, a beloved human character from Pokemon Sun and Moon. This card unlocks animated scenes, enhancing the virtual trading card experience beyond what physical cards can offer, and opens the door for more immersive Supporter and Trainer cards in future expansions.

A major meta shift is anticipated with the introduction of the Rare Candy Trainer card. This card allows players to skip the Stage 1 evolution and place a Stage 2 Pokemon directly onto a Basic Pokemon, enabling powerful combinations and faster gameplay. Deck builders can leverage this to deploy high-impact Stage 2 Pokemon Ex cards earlier, potentially redefining competitive strategies within the game.

Alongside the expansion, the Pokemon TCG Pocket Half-Year Celebration event launches, centered around the legendary Rayquaza from generation three. Players can earn Promo Pack A Series Volume 7 cards by completing special solo battles, with the coveted Rayquaza Ex card as the main prize. The event encourages daily engagement through single-card promo packs and offers additional full art variants and rewards via special missions running until late May.
