AT&T Launches Affordable Senior Phone Plan for 55 Plus Customers

AT&T has introduced a new phone plan specifically designed for customers aged 55 and older, called the AT&T 55 Plus plan. This offering is the most affordable senior plan the carrier has launched in years, aiming to provide essential mobile services at a discounted price. With a monthly cost of $40 for a single line and $35 per line for two lines, it offers unlimited voice calls, texting, and data across the US, Canada, and Mexico.

While the plan is more affordable, it is intentionally basic compared to pricier alternatives. It includes 10GB of hotspot data per line monthly, which is generous relative to other senior plans. However, video streaming is capped at 720p resolution, and although 5G access is mentioned, AT&T hasn’t clarified the conditions for high-speed data availability on this plan.

AT&T's new plan replaces an older, Florida-only senior plan that cost $62 per month. This move aligns with industry trends where carriers like Verizon and T-Mobile offer a range of senior plans, from basic to premium, to meet diverse needs and budgets. For example, T-Mobile’s senior plans range from $45 per month for Essentials Choice 55 to $85 for Experience Beyond with extensive perks.
