Apple has agreed to a $20 million settlement following a class action lawsuit concerning battery issues in its early Apple Watch models. If you own an Original, Series 1, Series 2, or Series 3 Apple Watch and have experienced battery swelling, you may be eligible for compensation. The lawsuit, filed in the US District Court for the Northern District of California, alleged that the batteries in these models could expand, leading to malfunctions. Although Apple has denied any wrongdoing, the company opted to settle to avoid further litigation.

To qualify for a payout, you must have owned one of the specified Apple Watch models in the US and reported battery swelling issues between April 24, 2015, and February 6, 2024. The compensation amount will depend on the number of claims submitted, with payouts ranging from $20 to $50. Eligible individuals will be notified via email or postcard.

To file a claim, visit the settlement website by April 10, 2025. The site provides a QR code that can be scanned to choose your preferred payment method, including physical check, electronic check, ACH transfer, or virtual prepaid Visa or MasterCard. If you did not receive a notice but believe you qualify, you can file a claim via email. By accepting the settlement, you waive your rights to pursue further legal action against Apple regarding this issue.
