At Apple’s WWDC conference, the tech giant unveiled macOS Tahoe, a major update that blends aesthetic innovation with powerful AI-driven features. Central to this release is the new “Liquid Glass” design, which introduces a reflective, transparent look across the OS, allowing users to customize folder icons with vibrant colors like pink for the first time. This visual refresh aligns macOS more closely with iOS 26’s sleek style, enhancing the overall user interface experience.

Beyond aesthetics, macOS Tahoe deepens integration with the iPhone through Continuity features. For the first time, Mac users will have access to a dedicated Phone app, incorporating iOS updates such as Call Screening and Hold Assist. Live Activities from iOS, like real-time Uber Eats delivery updates, now appear seamlessly on the Mac, bridging the device experience like never before.

One of the standout upgrades is Spotlight, which now leverages Apple Intelligence to deliver contextually relevant search results and suggest actions based on user activity. Imagine composing and sending an email directly from Spotlight without opening the Mail app, or using customizable quick keys like “AR” to add reminders and “SM” to send messages instantly. This transforms Spotlight from a simple search tool into a productivity powerhouse.

Additional enhancements include Live Translation across Phone, Messages, and FaceTime apps, AI-supported reminders, a new Apple Games app, and interactive features like backgrounds and polls in Messages. The Journal app also makes its debut on macOS Tahoe, offering users a fresh way to capture thoughts and memories.

macOS Tahoe is set to launch this fall, with a public beta available next month and early access for developers starting now. This update signals Apple’s ongoing commitment to blending design elegance with intelligent features that streamline workflows and enhance cross-device connectivity.
